Experience with software such as Matlab, Python, and Excel allow me to approach systems as engineers in the industry do.
Improving systems efficiency and understanding project management principles: Lean 6 sigma, Agile framework... I am taking technical electives in Industrial Engineering to gain a strong foundation in these core competencies.
Systems Engineers interface with all three disciplines to complete projects, requiring a strong understanding of roles and workload. I've focused on projects that incoporate all three competencies, and gained understanding of EE and SE to complement my deeper ME knowledge.
To succeed in a role like systems engineering, I believe it is important to be a go getter and have an entrepreneurial mindset. I've started my own landscaping, and International FBA business in the past.

Do you find yourself optimizing your morning routine unnecessarily and playing table tennis a lot? Well my name is Cameron McConnell and I like a hot cup of tea to start my mornings. Ever since I was young I had an interest in the math and sciences. In middle school I built a microscope out of used kodak cameras (remember those?), and in high school I started a landscaping business.
Somewhere along the way I realized you could combine an enjoyment for engineering with business, and my passion for industrial / systems engineering was born. I am currently in my 3rd year of mechanical engineering at Concordia University in Montreal, Canada, and spend my free time playing chess, table-tennis, working on side projects and hanging out with friends.
